The Second Weekend in May

On Saturday, the ukulele club my husband

is a member of played at a fund-raising event

for a church in Dalkey.

土曜日は、夫が所属するウクレレクラブが

Dalkeyにある教会のイベントで演奏した。

So I took Miffy with me and went to see him play.

My husband's best friend is also a member,

and I met with his French wife there.

夫の幼馴染の親友もクラブに属しているので、

その親友のフランス人の奥さんと合流した。

were also there.

夫の妹と父親も見に来ていた。

After the event,

my husband and his friend went off to

a pub with other members.

I and my French friend

went to another pub for lunch.

イベントの後、

夫と親友はクラブの他のメンバーたちと

パブに行き、

私とフランス人の奥さんは

別のパブに行ってランチを食べた。

The First Weekend in May

 

On 6th May, 

we took part in Darkness into Light.

We did it in Bray in 2021,

but it was very wet and horrible.

5月6日の土曜日に

Darkness into Lightに参加した。

2年前と同じ場所だ。

今回は土砂降りだった前回とは異なり

まずまずのお天気だった。

The following day,

we met my husband's sister in Greystones.

It was sunny and we had a lovely walk.

その翌日、

夫の妹とグレイストーンズで会った。

良いお天気で一緒に散歩した。

We had galette for lunch at Pierre Grise,

which was recommended by a French friend.

フランス人の友人から

美味しいと薦められていた

ガレットの店で昼食を食べた。

Just like a lot of restaurants in France,

this place allows dogs inside.

多くのフランスのレストランのように

この店では犬も店内に入れた。

After lunch we briefly visited

my husband's father and his wife.

その後は3人で

夫の父とその奥さんを訪問した。

Had a good weekend.

良い週末を過ごせたことに感謝。

Short Trip to Osaka

 

I went to Osaka in April about 2 weeks to see Dad.

He had turned 90 this March.

4月に2週間ほど父に会うために

大阪に帰った。

父は3月に90歳になった。

This time I flew via Helsinki.

今回はヘルシンキ経由で帰った。

The cherry blossoms were almost finished,

but I thought the green leaves are beautiful.

桜はほとんど散ってしまっていたが、

緑の葉が綺麗だと思った。

Had "Seafood Donburi" in Tennoji.

天王寺で「海鮮丼」を食べた。

I met an old friend and had lunch at "Mimiu",

and had afternoon tea at "Salon de Thé Alcyon".

高校時代の友人と高島屋の「美々卯」で

うどんすきを食べ、

その後「サロン・ド・テ アルション」で

アフタヌーン・ティーを頂いた。

These are the only eating out opportunities

during this stay.

Main purpose of this trip was to

look after my father.

I went to the hospital with him twice,

and the bank twice.

今回の帰省での外食はこの2回だけ。

今回の帰省の目的は

父のために親孝行することだ。

2度病院に一緒に行き、

2度銀行に一緒に行った。

I'm so grateful he can still live on his own.

まだまだ一人暮らしで頑張ってくれている

父には感謝しかない。

It was winter in Ireland when I left,

but it was a bit closer to spring

when I came back.

アイルランドを出た時は

まだまだ冬のようだったが、

帰国した時には

少し春に近づいていた。

I got a collection of Darjeeling tea in Japan.

日本でダージリンティーを色々集めた。

（アイルランド人はダージリンティーが

あまり好きじゃないようで

手に入れるのは結構難しい。）

This trip to Japan would have been impossible

without my husband's understanding.

My father bought him a lot of 

"kaki no tane" to thank my husband.

夫の理解なしには帰省できなかったことを

父も本当に感謝しているので

夫の大好物の「柿の種」を

お土産に持たせてくれた。

It wasn't easy trip, physically or psychologically,

but I have nothing but gratitude for everybody.

身体的にも精神的にも結構大変な旅だったが、

実行できたことに感謝しかない。
