Some Events During the Last Few Days

Drove up to the North on 27th.

27日は北アイルランドまでドライブ。

Conquered the summit of Slieve Gullion,

the highest point of County Armagh.

まず、Slieve Gullion の山頂まで行った。

アマー県で一番高い場所を制覇。

Then we drove to The Boulevard, an Outlet in Banbridge.

それから Banbridge のアウトレットで買い物。

What I bought:

Denby teapot.

買った物：

Denby のティーポット：

Christy towels.

Christy のタオルセット。

Went exploring nearby field on 29th.

29日は近所の野原を探検。

Went out for a walk in Monkstown on 30th.

30日は Monkstown で散歩。

It's been unusually warm for this time of the year.

今の時期に珍しく暖かい日が続いている。

Christmas Day & St. Stephen's Day

On Christmas Day:

We hosted the dinner and

my husband roasted a goose.

(Neither of us likes turkey,

so we eat goose for Christmas.)

クリスマス当日：

我が家でディナーパーティー。

夫がグースをロースト。

（我々夫婦二人とも七面鳥が嫌いなので

我が家のクリスマスは毎年グースでお祝い。）

On St. Stephen's Day,

we went for a walk in Howth.

翌日の聖スティーブンの日は

Howthでヒルウォーキング。

Yes, I can find GOD in DOG.

The Previous Day

Made mince pies with the homemade mincemeat.

手作りミンスミートでミンスパイを焼いた。

Also baked bread for cheese

(with black grapes and walnuts).

またチーズ用のパンも焼いてみた。

（ぶどうとくるみ入り）

I'm not sure if the doggies know

tomorrow is the special day.

犬達が明日は特別な日であることを

理解しているのかどうかは不明。

2 Days Before Christmas

There was a lovely Christmas music performance

at one of the local convenience stores.

近くにあるコンビニで

クリスマスソングの生演奏があった。

一気にクリスマス感が盛り上がり、

すごくいい感じだった。

We have been busy tidying the house 

and buying grocery to prepare for

Christmas dinner.

25日のディナーパーティーに備え、

家を片付けたり

食材を購入したりと慌ただしい。

The doggies are nearly ready, too!

犬達もほぼ準備完了！

I made mincemeat for mince pies,

which I'm planning to bake tomorrow.

明日焼こうと思っている

ミンスパイ用のミンスミートを

今日1日かけて作った。

I hope it's going to be a nice day on Christmas day.

楽しいクリスマスになるといいな。
（毎日雨ばっかりで気持ちはあんまり晴れないが。）

A Week before Christmas

The Christmas tree is ready.

This year's tree is taller than usual,

and I really like it.

クリスマスツリーの飾り付け終了。

今年は例年のものより

背の高いものを選択した。

結構気に入っている。

Winding Down

The amount of work is slowly winding down

as Christmas is approaching.

That means, I have more free time now!

クリスマスが近づくにつれ、

少しずつ仕事の量も減って来ている。

つまり、自分の時間が増えて来たということ！

On Sunday we went to see a film called

Three Identical Strangers.

I hadn't seen a film at the cinema for a long time.

Three Identical Strangers という映画を

日曜に見に行った。

映画館で映画を見るのは久しぶりであった。

I also made a case for my first specs.

そして初メガネ用のケースを作ってみた。

I can spend more time with the doggies 😀

犬達と触れ合う時間も増えたし 😀

The Helleborus niger (Christmas rose) has opened.

ヘレボルス・ニゲル（クリスマスローズ）

が開いた。

Digest of the Last Week

Still a bit busy with work, but quite manageable.

まだ（ありがたいことに）仕事が忙しいが、

ありがたいことにストレスがたまるほどではない。

Had some quality time with the doggies.

犬達ともしっかり遊んであげられた。

Local green field--Shiro found an old ball.

家の近くの広場で。

シローはボールを見つけて大喜び。

 I took many photos as Shiro was very cute.

シローが可愛すぎていっぱい写真撮ってしまった。

Miffy is a small dot in the back.

ミッフィーは背後の小さな白い点。

The weather has been unstable--perfect for rainbow.

お天気は雨が降ったり晴れたり強風だったり。

虹が出るのには最適な条件。

Playing with Shiro who stole my sock

from the washing machine.

洗濯機から私の靴下を盗んだ

シローと靴下ひっぱりっこ。

I left them in the sunroom--

doggies looking uncertain....

サンルームに通じるドアを締めたら

不安そうな表情を浮かべていた。

Got my first glasses last week.

For myopia, not for presbyopia!

These are only for driving.

先週めがねデビュー。

元々遠視なので老眼が早いと言われ続けたが、

老眼より先に（この歳になって）近眼になった。

とりあえず運転の時だけでいいらしい。

Not just my eyes, but I had to fix a broken tooth.

I went to town to go to the dentist 3 times.

目だけじゃなく、歯の方も色々あった。

欠けた歯の治療のため街の歯医者に3度通った。

I hadn't seen the Custom House for a long time.

カスタムハウスをこんな風に見るのは久しぶり。

ちょっと感動した。
