Summerly Weekend!

The last weekend of May was a hot and sunny one!

５月最後の週末はいい天気だった！

On Saturday we drove to Newbridge House.

土曜日はニューブリッジハウスに行った。

近くでジオキャッシング。

Shiro found me after Geocaching.

ジオキャッシング後、シローは私を発見

（ちょっと遠いけど飛行犬！）

Then we briefly visited Donabate beach.

その後、近くのビーチに寄った。

On Sunday, we went to St. Anne's Park.

Our main purpose is to see the Rose Garden,

but there was no flower yet because of the long cold spring.

日曜はSt. Anne's 公園へ行った。

ローズガーデンを見たかったのだが、

春が寒かったので全然咲いていなかった。

Nonetheless, we had a good time.

でもいい公園なので楽しく散歩した。

We tried to put Miffy on a wooden throne.

But she didn't like it :-))

木の椅子に座らせようとしたが、

どうもお気に召さなかった様子（笑）。

Hopefully many more days like these, please!!

このようないい天気の日がもっとあればなぁ。

Lunch Events

25th May was National Fish & Chips Day,

so I had fish and chips for lunch with a friend of mine.

５月１５日は「フィッシュアンドチップスデイ」だったので、

友人とのランチにはフィッシュアンドチップスデイを食べた。

And I met up with another friend for lunch yesterday.

As I hadn't seen her for a long time (about 6 months),

she gave me a birthday present!

(My birthday is in March :-))

そして昨日は別の友人とランチ。

友人が忙しくて半年くらい会えなかったので、

昨日誕生日のプレゼントをいただいた。

（私の誕生日は３月−−笑）

Normal Is the Best

When I was buying a few things in our local supermarket,

I noticed my credit card was missing from the wallet!!

近所のスーパーで買い物の際に支払いをしようとしたら、

財布にクレジットカードがないことに気づき大慌て！

I rang up the credit card company in a hurry.

They assured me there was no suspicious activity,

but the fact that I have no idea where I lost it makes me

very very unhappy....

急いでクレジットカード会社に電話した。

幸運なことに、悪用された気配はないという。

そのカードを無効にしてもらい、新しいカード作成の手続きをしたが、

いつ、どこでカードを紛失したのか全く覚えてないのが

非常に情けない...。

It's a lovely sunny day today.

(We can never take the sunshine for granted here even in May.)

今日はいいお天気。

（５月でも日光を当たり前に思えないのがこの国！）

I could hang the laundry in the garden.

The doggies accompanied me.

久しぶりに外に洗濯物が干せた。

Miffy somehow sits like an old man

only in our garden.

何故か家の庭のみでしかしないポーズ。

何週か前に日本スピッツも登場したようだけど、

用があって見れなかった。

（JSTVを録画するのはちょっと困難なのである。）

最終回の総集編に期待！！

I have a manageable amount of work right now.

Normal is the best.

ちょうどいい 量の翻訳の仕事もある。

普通が一番だ。

Friends

Our dogs may have made cute little friends during their late morning walk.

日課の朝散歩中に犬達は可愛いお友達を作ったかも。

 Even normally anti-doggy Miffy seemed to love one of the doggies.

普段は犬嫌いのミッフィーも尻尾フリフリ。

I received a jar of homemade "pickled yuzu" from a friend of mine.

She gave it to me in the jar I used

when I gave her my homemade miso.

友人から手作りの「塩柚子」をいただいた。

柚子はこちらでは手に入らないので本当に貴重！

以前、私の手作りの味噌をプレゼントしたのだが、

そのお返しとして味噌をあげた時に使用した

瓶に入っていた。

Thank you, thank you!

Friends are great!

BTW, the rice I cooked with the pressure cooker 
worked out very well (hurrah!).
電気圧力鍋で炊いたご飯は大成功だった（やったー！）。

Pressure

I always joke I'm the most frequent pressure cooker user in this estate.

I use it at least twice a week.

よく「私は町内で１番圧力鍋を使っている人間だ」と

つまらない冗談を言っている。

最低でも週に２回は使っていると思う。

This is the T-fal pressure cooker I use

which I bought 7, 8 years ago.

これが愛用のT-falの圧力鍋。

７−８年前に買ったと思う。

I saw this add on Lidl site.

I had to buy it as it's very very cheap.

Lidlで電気圧力鍋が売り出されることを知り、

早速買いに行ってしまった（安いし！）。

テーブルが散らかっている（汗）。

I'll try using it today to cook rice.

今日は試しにご飯を炊いてみようと思う。

I wasn't well today so stayed in bed most of the day.

Shiro came on the bed to accompany me.

今日は体調が悪くほぼ１日寝ていた。

シローがベッドに来て側にいてくれた。

変顔に癒された（笑）。

Massy's Wood

Another sunny day!

今日もいい天気（寒かったが）！

The bluebells are still in full bloom

as it's been cold spring.

春が寒かったのでまだブルーベルが満開。

Shiro's trying to lift this massive branch.

大きな枝を持ち上げようとしているシロー。

We had a BBQ in the garden for dinner.

夕食は庭でバーベキュー。

I wish we would have more sunny days like today.

今日みたいなお天気の日がもっとあれば嬉しい。

Big with Events

10th May is my husband's birthday.

(The same with Bono's....)

5月10日は夫の誕生日。

（ちなみにU2のボノも。）

We went to Intercontinental Hotel for dinner that night.

その日はインターコンチネンタルホテルで夕食。

It was disappointing....

I only enjoyed the dessert.

The service was bad, and the food was bad.

When I booked the table, I mentioned we'd be celebrating

my husband's birthday and asked them to

bring a cake with birthday wishes.

That didn't happen....

がっかりであった。

デザートのケーキは美味しかったけど、

それ以外はイマイチであった。

何よりもサービスが良くなかった！

（レストランが空いているのに

スタッフがいなくてお客さんが待たされていた。）

テーブルを予約した際、夫の誕生日なので

メッセージを入れたケーキをお願いしておいたのに、

それもなかったし。

The halibut I had for the main (very tasteless).

メインに食べたオヒョウ（美味しくなかった）。

On 12th, Eurovision Song Contest's semi-final was held.

Ireland didn't qualify, unfortunately,

though I thought Nicky Byrne (former Westlife)

did very well.

１２日にはユーロヴィジョンソングコンテストの準決勝が

ストックホルムで行われた。

アイルランドからは元ウェストライフのニッキー・バーンが

参加したが残念ながら決勝には進めなかった。

And we bought a (second hand) car.

My husband's work requires a lot of driving now,

so we need 2 cars now.

そして中古車を１台購入。

（日本から輸入された中古車。）

夫が仕事で国内を色々運転する機会が増えたので

もう１台車が必要だと判断したからだ。

I also bought some flowers for the garden.

そしてやっと春らしくなってきたので

庭に飾るお花を買った。
