Spring Flowers in Japan

I took many photos to memorise 

how beautiful spring flowers are in Japan.

帰国まで1週間足らずになり、

思い出のためにも花の写真を撮りまくっている。

You can't see wild azaleas, wisterias, 

or Cornus florida (flowering dogwood) in Ireland.

アイルランドには

野生のツツジもフジもハナミズキもない。

Southern Osaka & Wakayama

Another beautiful sunny day & 
 we hit the road to Southern Osaka!

またまた夏みたいな暑い日だったので

嬉しくて大阪南端に向かって車を走らせた。

At Tannowa Beach in Misaki-cho

岬町の淡輪ビーチにて。

Awashima Shrine in Wakayama.

This shrine is dedicated to dolls.

In Japan it is believed that dolls have a soul,

so people do not want to throw them out. 

和歌山の淡島神社にて。

人形供養を専門としている。 

It's possibly one of the hottest days I have this year.

今年経験する数少ない夏日の１日だったかも。

嬉しかった。

Tsurumi Ryokuchi

As it was very hot like summer

(At least hotter than the hottest day in Ireland),

we decided to go to Tsurumi Ryokuchi to see the tulips

instead of packing to go back to Ireland.

アイルランドの真夏日よりいいお天気だったので、

荷造りをやめて鶴見緑地に

チューリップを見に行った。

3/4スピッツ、1/4ポメラニアンミックスと遇った。

殆どスピッツみたい。

 

It's probably the last time for our dogs

to be in this park.

犬達にとっては最後の鶴見緑地。

楽しい思いでができた。

Day Trip to Shiga

We decided to drive to Shiga on a whim 

on a sunny April day.

急に思いついて滋賀にドライブにでかけた。

My biggest mission on that day was,

to buy earrings at  the Nagahama Music Box Shop.

私の１番の目的は長濱オルゴール堂で

イアリングを買うことだった。

数年前ここで2組購入し、

お気に入りだったのだが、

1つは紛失し、もう1つは破損してしまったのだ。

However,  I couldn't find earrings there any more.

Nonetheless, we had a great time.

残念ながらイアリングは売ってなかった。

 でも、楽しかった。

The magnolias & cherry blossoms were still beautiful. 

大阪では散ってしまったコブシも桜もキレイだった。

The Last 2 Days in Japan (for my friends, not for me yet)

On the second last day of our friends' stay in Japan,

we went to Spaworld near Shinsekai.

Myself and Claire tried different kinds of bath

while the kids & the boys went to the swimming pool.

We had a good time,

and they had a great time with the water slides.

大阪の「新世界」にあるスパワールドに行った。

私とクレアは前日の箕面に引き続き温泉三昧。

子供達と夫達はウォータースライドのあるプールで遊んだ。

After that, we had lunch near Tsutenkaku.

その後は通天閣近くのレストランでランチ。

On the last day, 

which was the first summery day in Osaka,

we had a relaxing time and did "Ohanami".

今年初めての夏日となった大阪での

日本滞在最終日はお花見。

The people beside us were very friendly.

(Jonathan is missing from this photo,

as he was suffering from hangover....)

 お隣でお花見をしていた方々は、

子供達にとても親切に話しかけて下さった。

ジョナサンは前日に大阪ドームでの

阪神タイガースの試合を見に行き、

その時に飲み過ぎて二日酔いだったので、

お花見には遅れて来た。  

They left Osaka for Dubai last night.

They're stopping over there one night, 

and going back to Ireland.

昨夜遅くのフライトで、

乗り換え地のドバイに出発した。

ドバイで1泊してアイルランドに帰国予定。

Thanks a million for visiting us in Japan!!

日本に来てくれて本当にありがとう。

楽しんでくれたようで私も嬉しかった。

特にルーシーは「帰りたくなーい」と

大粒の涙を流して泣いていた。

それほどまでに日本を愛してくれて、

感謝感激。

See you in Ireland!

アイルランドでまた会おうね！

Minoo

We rented a car and went to Minoo.

I didn't know that we can't see the monkeys any more.

レンタカーを借りて6人で箕面観光に出かけた。

（我が家の自家用車は5人乗り。）

名物の猿は観光客の来る所にはもう来ないそうだ。

ちょっとがっかり。

We had lunch and "Onsen" at Minoo Kanko Hotel.

The staff there were so friendly & helpful.

The food was delicious.

Our guests were gobsmacked

when they were told they were eating sea bream "milt".

But they really enjoyed "Onsen".

箕面観光ホテルの日帰りプランを利用して

昼食と温泉を楽しんだ。

友人一家は、鯛の白子にかなりビックリしていた。

（じつは私も。）

でも、温泉をとても気に入ったようだ。

特に子供達は「絶対また行きたい！」と

大喜び。

 

おまけ。

大学時代に千里中央から阪急バスによく乗ったので、

懐かしくて写真を撮ってしまった。

We went to "mister donut" in Minoo,

and discovered that that shop is the first "mister donut" in Japan.

帰りに箕面のミスタードーナッツに寄って、

そこの支店が日本のミスタードーナッツの

第１号だと知りビックリ。

The doggies were very unhappy (again) 

about us leaving them behind for a long time...

ごめんね、またまた長い間お留守番させて。

怒りたくもなるね。

Cycling in Daisen Park

Today we went to Daisen Park with our guests,

rented bicycles and cycled around near there.

今日は大仙陵古墳（仁徳天皇陵）の近くにある

 大仙公園に行き、自転車をレンタルした。

While Jonathan and the girls went geocaching,

myself, Claire and my husband went to the Japanese Garden.

ジョナサンと子供達がジオキャッシングしている間、

私と夫とクレアは日本庭園に行った。

For lunch, we went to a restaurant nearby.

The girls tried "Hotcakes" and they loved it.

お昼には近くのレストランに行った。

 日本のホットケーキを初体験した子供達。

とっても気に入ったようだ。

Before returning the bikes, 

we visited Itasuke Tumulus

where a family of tanukis (raccoon dogs) live.

Naturally, our guests had never seen 

tanukis before and were very excited. 

自転車を返却する前に、

狸をみるためにいたすけ古墳に寄った。 

欧州には狸はいないので、

友人一家にとっては初めての狸！

Even though it started to rain late in the afternoon,

we had a great time cycling around.

夕方から雨になったけど、

本格的に降り始める前に自転車を返却できた。

友人一家と私の生まれ故郷を

一緒に自転車で走り回れるなんて

夢にも思ってなかった。   

楽しかった！ 

After we arrived home, 

we took the dogs out for a walk in the rain.

友人一家は犬がレインコートを来てることに

大笑いしていた（笑）。
