A few weeks ago, Miffy's left cheek started to swell.
Then we discovered a small thorn in that cheek.
Using tweezers, we carefully removed it.
During all this time, she never showed
any sign of suffering from discomfort or pain.
2、3週間前
ミッフィーの左頬が腫れ出した。
よく見ると小さな棘が刺さっている。
毛抜きを使って取り出した。
頬が腫れ出しても
棘を抜く前も最中も抜いた後も
ミッフィーは苦しむ素振りを
全く見せなかった。

タフじゃなければ生きて行けないわ！
On the morning of 11 Sep,
14 years and 6 months after Shiro came to live with us,
he started to show some signs of some health deterioration.
Couldn't eat, couldn't drink water,
couldn't walk, and he seemed to be in pain.
9月11日の朝
（この日はシローが家族になってちょうど
14年と6ヶ月目であった）
シローの様子がおかしいのに気づいた。
朝ごはんには全く手をつけず、
水も飲まない、
歩くこともできないのだ。
また、痛みにも耐えているようだ。
We took him to the emergency vet.
The vet said Shiro's temperature was too high,
his heart rate was too high,
and he seemed to have some kind of infection,
possibly in the pancreas.
土曜日にも開いている
緊急の獣医に連れて行った。
獣医の先生によると、
シローには熱があり、
脈は早すぎるし、
血液検査で内部（おそらく膵臓）で
炎症を起こしているようだった。
The vet told us to be prepared to
say good bye to Shiro.
And she said she wants to keep Shiro
in the hospital just in case.
But we insisted to take him home
just in case!
He should be surrounded by
his favourite things,
not in the vet cage.
先生に最悪の事態を
覚悟するよう言われた。
そして入院して様子を見たいと
言われたが、
私たちは万が一のことを考え、
家に連れて帰りたいと主張した。
獣医の檻の中ではなく、
シローの好きなものに囲まれて
過ごして欲しかったのだ。
The vet agreed,
and she told us to feed him
non-dairy, non-fat food
such as boiled eggs or boiled chicken.
And she also prescribed paracetamol.
先生は同意してくれた。
餌は乳製品を含まない、
ローファットのゆで卵や
ささみをあげるようにという
アドバイスと
犬用アセトアミノフェン
と一緒にシローは帰宅した。
After taking doggie paracetamol,
he calmed down a bit,
and fell asleep for a while.
When the dinner time came,
he happily ate the boiled egg.
Looking promising.
犬用アセトアミノフェンを
飲んだ後、
シローは少し眠った。
晩御飯の時間になると
なんと用意したゆで卵を
完食してくれた！
That night, my husband and I
took turns to keep an eye on Shiro.
He was quietly asleep most of the time.
The following day,
he seemed to be having a constipation,
so I cooked some potatoes,
which he ate happily for breakfast.
その日の夜は一晩中、
夫と交代でシローの様子をチェックした。
その晩は静かに横になっていた。
翌朝、シローは便秘に苦しんでいる
ようだったので、
私はじゃがいもを茹でて
シローの朝ごはんに混ぜた。
シローはそれも完食した。
On Monday, he looked much better.
He ate all the food we gave him,
and was willing to go out for a short walk.
月曜日には元気になっていた。
ごはんは全て完食し
短い散歩にも行くようになった。
He went back to the vet on Tuesday.
She was very surprised and happy to
see how Shiro was.
No temperature, no fast heart rate,
still slight pain.
Shiro bounced back yet again!
火曜日に獣医に連れて行くと
先生はびっくりして
そしてとても喜んでくれた。
少しまだお腹に痛みがあるようだが
熱もなく、脈も正常。
He kept taking paracetamol
for the following 5 days,
and continued with chicken/egg/sweet potato diet.
その後５日間
犬用アセトアミノフェンを飲み続け、
ゆで卵・ささみ・さつまいも
の食事を続けた。
I'm Shiro the Hero!
シロー・ザ・ヒーロー！
It was a very difficult time.
But I couldn't believe
how resilient he is.
心配が絶えない時期だったが
シローの強さには驚かされた。
