Blue Jasmine

Went to see "Blue Jasmine",

a film directed by Woody Allen

at the same cinema as last week's Japanese film.

Cate Blanchet was superb.

ウッディ・アレン監督の

「ブルージャズミン」を見て来た。

ケイト・ブランシェットの演技が圧巻！

The story is a bit like Tennessee Williams's

"A Streetcar Named Desire".

This reminds me that I saw "A Streetcar Named Desire"

on Broadway in 1992,

 which starred Jessica Lange and 

Alec Baldwin who appears in "Blue Jasmine" as well.

ストーリーはテネシーウィリアムズの

「欲望という名の電車」に似ている。

そういえば私は1992年に

ブロードウェイでこの劇を見た。

それには「ブルージャズミン」にも出てる

アレック・ボールドウィンも出てたな。

We went out for a walk in the mountain 

on Sunday.

It snowed a bit, but

we had a great time.

週末は犬達と山歩き。

途中で雪が降って来たりしたが

楽しかった。

シローは興奮しすぎ（笑）。

Hayworth Clutch & 3 Rock Mountain

Crocheted a hayworth clutch, using this pattern.

The yarn is silk.

この編み図を使用して

ヘイワース・クラッチを作ってみた。

シルクの毛糸を使用。

I'd already made one before, which I used

for the wedding in Canada last year.

I think this one is nicer though,

as my crochet skill has improved.

以前にも同じものを作ったことがある。

去年のカナダでの結婚式に使用した。

今回の作品の方が上手く出来たと思う。

編み物の技術が上達したからだろう。

Today's doggie walk took place in 3 Rock Mountain.

 今日の犬達との散歩は3 Rock Mountainに行った。

I used to go there a lot when we were living nearby.

日本に行く前まで近くに住んでいたので

しょっちゅう行ってたが、

日本から帰って来てからはあまり行かなくなった。

They were really excited.

I should take them there more.

犬達大喜び。

 

Like Father, Like Son

Went to see a Japanese film 

"Like Father, Like Son",

with my husband and my parents-in-law.

『そして父になる』を見て来た。

It was a very moving film.

良かった。

夫は特に主役の福山雅治の演技に感動していた。

Sorry, doggies, you had to wait at home.

犬達はお留守番で淋しかったようだ。

Crochet Ring Box

Made a crochet ring box.

It's made with cotton yarn.

コットンの毛糸で

指輪ケースを作ってみた。

It rained almost all day and

Miffy certainly looks very bored.

殆ど1日中雨だったので

ミッフィーは退屈そう。

We'll go somewhere nice if it's dry tomorrow!

明日雨じゃなかったらどこかに出かけよう。

Mary Berry's Moroccan Chicken

As I was getting bored with potatoes, pastas, breads

(basically everything except for nice Japanese rice)

for main food, I tried cooking couscous.

It turned out to be a brilliant idea!

 主食としてのパスタ、パン、

ジャガイモ（アイルランドのは日本のより美味しいけど）

に飽きてしまい、

貴重な日本のコシヒカリもムダに使いたくなかったので

クスクスを使ってモロッコ風チキンを作ってみた。

美味しくて大正解！！

I used Mary Berry's recipe.

TV番組「Great British Bake Off」以来

大人気になったメアリー・ベリーのレシピを使用。

I liked her before she became famous!

人気が出る前から何冊かレシピ本もっていた。

（ちょっと自慢）

The video I uploaded for Christmas entry

does not seem to play.

I have reloaded again.

クリスマスのエントリーで

アップしたビデオが見れないようなので

再度アップしてみる。

特に凄いビデオでもないが....。

Maulin Mountain

Climbed Maulin Mountain with Geocaching gang.

I hadn't done this kind of serious mount climbing 

for more than a year.

But the weather was absolutely gorgeous,

and I really enjoyed it.

Maulin Mountainに登って来た。

登山らしい登山をするのは

一昨年の7月に日本で

富士山登山に挑戦して以来かも。

いいお天気で景色もよく、楽しかった。

Shiro's Birthday

9 January is Shiro's birthday.

He's 7 (my god!).

1月9日はシローの誕生日。

7才になった。

His all-time favourite game--sock tag of war.

靴下を盗んでそれを引っ張りっこするのが大好き。

 Wearing a rain coat I bought in Japan.

日本で買ったリラックマのレインコートを着て。

 He wasn't very happy with Miffy at first,

but he's more accepting her now.

ミッフィーとも仲良くなってきてる。

I love my little Shiro.

Thank you for living with us.

Killiney HIll (Yet Again)

On a weekday morning,

95% of the people walking on

Killiney Hill are dog walkers.

(And I'm one of them.)

平日の朝、Killiney Hillで散歩している人の

殆どが犬を連れている。

そして私もその一人。 

 Only Miffy was brave enough to

climb the "Pyramid"

(the one on the right in the photo above).

ミッフィーは上の写真の

右に写っている「ピラミッド」の

頂上に登った。

（シローは拒否。）

I just love this hill!

 

Parcel from Japan

I received a parcel from a couple

(parents of one of my friends who 

used to live in Ireland) who live in Sendai.

以前アイルランドに住んでいた友人の

ご両親から日本のお菓子等を送って頂いた。

This is probably in return for the parcel

I sent them for Christmas.

クリスマスプレゼントに

些細なものをこちからから送ったので

そのお礼であろう。

（私が送ったものより遥かに

高価なものを送ってもらい大恐縮。）

came from Maruyama Zoo in Hokkaido.

The wife is originally from Hokkaido.

It looks like our dogs :-))

シロクマの袋は

円山動物園のラーメン（笑）。

犬達に似てるかも。

I'm so blessed and grateful for this.

感謝の気持ちでいっぱい。

Normal Day Has Started

This is Ireland.

January 2nd is an ordinary working day.

My husband went to work,

I took the dogs for a walk as usual.

アイルランドは1月2日から平常通り。

夫は会社に行き、

私はいつも通り犬達と散歩。

This is one of our breakfast items on New Year's Day:

a pancake looking like an animal.

これは元旦の朝食に食べた

パンケーキの中の1枚。

正体不明の動物。

Very different from last year's.

去年のとは随分異なる。

Happy New Year from Killiney Hill

There were fireworks at Dun Laoghaire piers to 

celebrate the new year.

So we went up Killiney Hill to view them.

Dun Laoghaireの大晦日の花火を

Killiney Hillに登って丘の上から鑑賞。

2013 is over.

It was my husband's "Atoyaku" year, and it's over!!

("Atoyaku" is the year after "Yakudoshi"

and considered to be a bad year.)

今年で夫の後厄も終わり、

2014年も元気に過ごしたい。
