Staycationing in Valentia Island, Co. Kerry 2

 

On the first morning, we had breakfast

using a jam we had bought at a supermarket.

It's named after Skellig Michael

the Unesco World Heritage Site

where some of the Star Wars series films were shot.

Nobody can go there now due to Covid-19.

朝食には前日に購入した

ジャムを使った。

すぐ近くにあるユネスコ世界遺産である

スケリッグ・マイケルに

ちなんだ名前がついている。

ここはスターウォーズの映画のいくつかが

撮影されたことでも有名だ。

普段ならものすごい数の観光客で

溢れているが、

今はコロナ禍のせいで行くことができない。

The clocktower in Knightstown.

ナイツタウンの時計台。

We went to see 385 million years old

footprints of one of the first 4 legged animals in the world

(fish which had just developed legs).

It's called "Tetrapod Trackway".

３億八万５千年前の

世界最古の4つ足動物の足跡を見に行った。

魚から足が出たみたい感じの

サンショウウオみたいな生き物で

長さは１メートルくらいのものらしい。

Then we went to see the lighthouse.

それから灯台を見に行った。

After lunch we drove to the mainland 

and went to see the ruins of

Ballycarbery Castle.

This was originally built in the 14th century.

昼食後に本土に行き、

14世紀に建てられたという

Ballycarbery Castle の廃墟を見た

It was pouring rain and I felt a bit miserable....

この時は土砂降りでちょっと悲しかった...。
