The Bed

For some reason, 

Miffy started using the bed as a bed recently....

ミッフィーは最近ベッドをベッドとして使うようになった。

But I want Shiro to use it more

while he's recuperating.

I've put him on this Lisa and Gasper romper suit

as it covers the scar on the leg

and stops him from removing the stitches.

He's so upset about the Elizabethan collar that

I removed it...

でも基本的に手術から回復中の

シローに使わせるようにしている。

このリサ＆ガスパールの服は

手術した足の傷が隠れるので

勝手に自分で抜糸するのを防ぐために

着せている。

エリザベスカラーは

嫌がって泣くので外してあげた。

 

When I bought these doggy clothes in Japan,

I never thought they would be useful like this.

犬達の洋服は日本で旅館に泊まるために買ったのだが、

こんな風にアイルランドで役に立つとは思わなかった。

Rainbow in Our Hearts

On the weekend I took the dogs out for a walk on my own

as my husband needed to attend a lecture for his work.

週末は夫が仕事であるレクチャーに

参加しなければならなかったので

私が一人で犬達を散歩に連れて行った。

 It was a beautiful autumn sunny day.

キレイな秋晴れの日だった。

This Monday, Shiro had a surgery for cruciate ligament

on his right hind leg.

He had been limping for the past couple of months.

We were hoping it would heal naturally,

but unfortunately, that didn't happen.

月曜にシローは右後ろ足の

前十字靭帯破損のために手術をした。

ここ2ヶ月半くらい足を引き摺っていたのだ。

自然治癒を期待していたのだが、

やはりダメだった。

In order to have Shiro operated by a specialist vet,

I had to drive to another county.

While driving to the hospital, I saw a rainbow.

I didn't take pictures as I was driving,

but that somehow made me feel assured.

十字靭帯破損専門の獣医さんに

手術してもらうために

少し遠い動物病院に車で行く必要があった。

病院まで運転している時に虹を見た。

それを見て何故だかこの手術は上手く行くような

安心感を得ることができた。

I normally write the bright side of everyday life

in this blog.

Especially because this is a sad and upsetting time,

I should try to look at something more positive.

このブログでは毎日の幸せを綴るようにしているので、

シローの手術という悲しい時にも

何かポジティブな面を探すべきだと思う。

 As the rainbow had suggested,

the operation went well,

and the Hungarian vet,

who loves Japan and goes there every year,

was very, very good.

虹のおかげか、手術は成功した。

また、担当のハンガリー人の獣医さんも

非常に優しくてそして素晴らしい人だった。

（その上大の日本好きで毎年行ってるそうだ。）

 And I and Miffy can have a quality time together.

She is a rescue dog and has been difficult sometimes

as she's very jealous of Shiro.

But I can take out for a walk without Shiro,

and she seems to be very happy.

また、レスキュー犬で、

シローから3年遅れて我が家の一員になったせいで、

普段シローに対抗心を燃やして

時にはちょっと扱いにくいこともある

ミッフィーとシロー抜きで散歩に行くことになった。

そのおかげでミッフィーも嬉しそう。

At the same time,

Miffy showed some caring sides when she saw 

Shiro in pain when he came home from the hospital.

その上意外な事に、

頭にエリザベスカラー、足に包帯を付けた姿で

手術の痛みに苦しんでいるシローを見て

ミッフィーは近寄って行き、

心配する様子を見せた。

Shiro is already showing a sign of recovery

and now he can stand up and walk with 3 legs.

シローも既に回復の兆しを見せていて、

3本足で立ったり歩いたりするようになった。

Yesterday he somehow wanted to get into the car.

So I put him in.

We sat in the stationery car together for a while.

Just two of us.

昨日何故かシローは車に乗りたがったので、

車に乗せてあげた。

庭に駐車してある車の中で

しばらく一緒に過ごした。

シローと2人だけで。

Clean Miffy

Yesterday, after the crochet class in the morning,

I decided to wash Miffy.

昨日は午前中のかぎ編教室の後、

ミッフィーを洗ってみた。

She escaped to the doggy bed

which she uses normally as a toy 

(by holding in her mouth and shaking it).

シャンプーの後、

ミッフィーは普段は口にくわえて振り回したりして

遊んでいるだけでその中では横にならない

ベッドへ逃げ込んだ（笑）。

Did the shampooing wash 

her funny habits away, too??

Went to see the film "The Hundred-Foot Journey"

with my friend Claire.

My husband and the doggies came to see me off

when I was getting Luas to the cinema.

友人のクレアと映画 「The Hundred-Foot Journey」

を見に行った。 

映画館に行くのに使ったトラムの駅まで

夫と犬達が見送ってくれた。

I enjoyed the film!

The First Day of October

Getting cooler, but still sunny today.

10月に入り涼しくなってきているが、

今日もまたいい天気だった。

The leaves are turning red,

just like last year (hurrah!)

今年も木の葉が去年みたいに

赤くなってる（やった〜）！

 Miffy looking happy in front of the fucsha

ミッフィーがフクシアの前でポーズ。

 （10月でもまだ満開！）

 Shiro found a tennis ball in the green (yet again).

シローは草むらでまたテニスボールを見つけた。

Made a crochet shopping bag with

linen yarn I bought in Estonia 7 years ago.

7年前にエストニアで買った

リネンの毛糸で買物用のバッグを作った。

The Last Day of September

It's been unusually warm and nice for September this year,

 even warmer than August.

今年の9月は以上に暖かい。8月より暖かかった。

I took the dogs out for a walk to Three Rock Mountains.

Three Rock Mountainsで犬達と散歩。

Then I painted the walls of our small bedroom,

and a bookshelf.

The wall colour is Dulux Soft Blue.

その後、小さい方の寝室の壁と

ブックケースにペンキを塗った。

壁の色はDulux Soft Blue。

10月もいいお天気が続きますように！

New Additions

A French friend of mine gave me this.

フランス人の友人に貰った。

Made with cotton yarn I bought in Turkey.

トルコで買ったコットンの毛糸で作った。

My husband got the flashing light collars for the doggies.

夫が夜の散歩用のカラーを買ってきた。

House Renovation Project

New wooden floors were installed in the master bedroom

(at last thanks to brilliant M Kelly Interiors.)

It's oak.

やっとメインの寝室にフローリングを入れることができた。

（何軒ものいい加減な店に振り回された後、

やっと信頼できるいい店に巡り合った。）

素材はオーク。

It's a bit hard to see, but we used 

Dulux Biscotti for the walls,

Dulux Georgian Cream for the ceiling.

The ceiling lamp is Danish made.

少し見難いが、

壁はDulux Biscotti、

天井はDulux Georgian Creamを使用。

天井の電灯はデンマーク製。

 We are now sleeping in the bedroom.

(Until now we were sleeping in the attic!).

引っ越して4カ月過ぎ、

やっと寝室で寝ることができた。

（今までは屋根裏部屋で寝ていた！）

The kumquat fruits are getting bigger.

金柑の実も大きくなってきた。

And the doggies are resting.

犬達はのんびり。

P.S. I got the wall colour and ceiling colour wrong--
it's the other way round!
My favourite wall colour is "Georgian Cream".

追記：壁の色と天井の色を逆に書いていた！
大好きな壁の色がGeorgian Cream！
