Happy Afternoon for (Only) Humans

Went out for an afternoon tea at Shelbourne Hotel.

今日の午後はShelbourne Hotelにてアフタヌーン・ティーを体験。

The doggies were unimpressed today

as they were taken to the vet for vaccinations,

and were left at home in the afternoon 

while the humans were enjoying teas & cakes!

犬達はちょっと不満。

午前中は予防接種のために獣医に行き、

午後は人間達がケーキを食べてる間お留守番！！

But I & Shiro had a nap together later.

でも帰宅後、私とシローは仲良くお昼寝。

National Fish & Chips Day

Yesterday (Wed 27 May) was National Fish & Chips Day.

It happens every year on the last Wednesday of May.

Some restaurants serve fish & chips at a half price.

I had forgot about this until I saw it on the menu

at the restaurant I went out for lunch with a friend of mine.

昨日（５月２７日水曜日）はアイルランドでの

フィッシュ＆チップスの日。

毎年５月の最終水曜日にあり、

この日はフィッシュ＆チップスを半額で食べられる。

I took out the doggies to Marlay Park this morning.

今朝の犬散歩はMarlay Parkで。

Portrane

As far as I'm concerned,

today was the first summerly day in Ireland.

(I missed the lovely sunny weather that arrived

while I was in Japan.)

今日は私にとってはアイルランドでの

今年初めての夏日。

（４月の寒かった日本滞在中に

アイルランドでは暑かったらしいが...。）

We were planning to go into town to 

visit a museum, and have a lunch at a French restaurant.

But we changed the plan and decided to

go to Portrane, a beach in north Dublin.

今日は街に出て博物館に行ってから

フレンチの店でランチする予定だったが、

あまりに天気が良かったので

急遽予定を変更してダブリンの北部にあるビーチ

Portraneまでドライブした。

We made the right choice!

正しい選択！

Then we had our first BBQ this year.

帰宅後は今年初のBBQ。

Moore Abbey Wood, Co. Kildare

As 10th of May is my husband's birthday 

(same as Bono's),

we went to Kildare Village to buy him a present.

５月１０日は夫の誕生日だったので

プレゼントを買うために一緒にKildare Village

のアウトレットに行った。

We couldn't find a suitable present.

And we didn't want the dogs to wait in the car too long,

so we left the outlet in less than 1 hour.

残念ながら欲しいものが見つからなかったが、

犬たちも車で待っていたことだし、

早々と退散して別の場所に移動。

Our next destination is Moore Abbey Wood.

そして向かったのはMoore Abbey Woodという森。

At this time of the year, bluebells are magnificent.

この時期は、イングリッシュ・ブルーベルが綺麗だ。

We had a nice walk, had a picnic lunch in the forrest,

and went to Market Butcher before heading home.

Then we spotted a swallow on the lamp of the building!

森を散歩し、ピクニックの昼食を取り、

帰宅途中Market Butcherに寄った。

その同じ建物の電灯にツバメを発見！

It's still cold, but swallows think it's spring....

I hope they're right....

まだ寒いけど、ツバメは春だと思っているようだ。

Jasper the Japanese Spitz at Marlay Park

Went out for an evening walk at Marlay Park,

and met a Japanese spitz called "Jasper" and

a papillon (sorry I forgot to ask the name!).

夕方、マーリーパークに散歩に行き、

ジャスパー君というオスの７歳の日本スピッツと

パピヨンちゃん（名前を聞き忘れた！）と遭遇。

As it was getting darker,

I couldn't take good photos with a smartphone.

暗くなりかけてた上に、

スマホしかなかっので写真がブレブレ（涙）。

Cultural Activities (W/O the Doggies)

The last Friday my husband & I went to see a play 

"To Kill a Mockingbird" in town.

先週の金曜日の夜、

街で夫と「アラバマ物語」の劇を見に行った。

I don't think the production was suitable for

a big theatre....

プロダクションは、

上演された劇場には向いてなかったようだ。

小さな劇場ならよかったと思う。

And on Monday, myself and Claire

went to see a film "Far from the Madding Crowd".

Carey Mulligan is very grown up now,

and Matthias Schoenaerts who plays Gabriel

is gorgeous!

月曜日はクレアと

映画「Far from the Madding Crowd」を見に行った。

キャリー・マリガンがすっかり

大人の女性になっているのにビックリ。

また、ガブリエルを演じた

ベルギー人俳優マティアス・スーナールツ が

カッコ良すぎる（ 笑）。

Sorry doggies, these activities don't involve

you guys at all....

この文化活動にはあんまりワンコは

関係ないね（苦笑）。

They just sunbath...

Curtlestown Wood

We took the doggies out for a long walk.

We hadn't done that for a long time 

as the weather wasn't suitable during the winter.

犬たちと久しぶりに長い距離の

ハイキングに出かけた。

冬の間は天候に恵まれなかったせいもある。

The dogs got very dirty so 

my husband washed them

in the stream.

犬たちがドロドロになったので

夫が小川で洗浄（笑）。

We had a lovely walk!
