Back in Ireland

My father is scheduled to go home soon.

So he insisted I should go back to Ireland,

which I did.

父はありがたいことにもうすぐ退院できる。

父がアイルランドに帰れと言い続けるので、

父の言う通りに帰って来た。

Walk with the doggies.

犬達と散歩。

They were wearing a new harness

I bought in Japan.

日本で買って来た

新しいハーネスを着用している。

On the weekend, we visited Tzar's parents' cafe.

週末には「ツァー」君の

パパさんママさんのカフェに行った。

Tzar and his brother Max were there!

ツァー君と兄弟のマックス君もいた！

Love, love....

Lovely cafe, lovely food!

犬も連れて行ける素敵なカフェ！

Japan Again

I got a call from Japan to say

my father had collapsed and been taken to hospital

in a critical condition last week.

I booked the flight for the next day,

and landed in Osaka the following morning.

日本から電話があり、

父が倒れて危篤だからすぐ帰るようにと言われ、

翌日のフライトを予約し、

その翌朝には関空に降り立った。

Fortunately, we were able to avoid 

the worst case scenario,

and Dad made a miraculous recovery.

幸運なことに

父は治療に劇的な反応を示し、

無事に事なきを得た。

I have been very busy in Osaka,

visiting him in hospital, doing laundry for him,

cleaning up his apartment, doing errands for him,

and doing a small amount of translations;

but my aunts and uncles have been very supportive.

大阪では毎日お見舞いに行って、

洗濯物を持ち帰って洗濯し、

父の家を掃除し、

父からの頼まれごとの用事を片付け、

その上翻訳の仕事もするという、

非常に慌ただしい日々を送っているが、

叔父・叔母のサポートを受け

何とか頑張っている。

I'd like to stay in Japan longer to look after him,

but unfortunately I must go back to Ireland soon.

I'm very upset,

but this is what a lot of people have gone through....

本当なら父が退院するまで日本にいて

できるだけ面倒をみたいのだが、

そう言うわけにもいかず、

もうすぐアイルランドに帰らねばならない。

こういう思いをする人は世の中には

たくさんいるのだろう...。

My husband is looking after the doggies,

especially Shiro with a heart condition.

夫は犬達の面倒を忙しい仕事の合間に

みてくれている。

He is working from home today.

夫は今日は家で仕事をしているようだ。

Whatever the out come is,

I will do my best.

The Wonderful Barn & the Wonderful Rainbow

On Saturday we visited the Wonderful Barn

for my husband's Geocaching.

土曜日は夫のジオキャッシングに付き添って

the Wonderful Barn を見に行った。

On Sunday, we took my husband's father and his wife

out for lunch as it was Father's Day.

日曜は父の日だったので

義父と義継母をランチに誘った。

We've been having unstable weather this month.

There was a rainbow today.

今月もずっとお天気が悪い。

今日は虹が出た。

Looking Into Future

Shiro has been diagnosed as having “mitral valve disease”.  

Unfortunately it is more common among smaller breeds 

and unusual for a Japanese spitz, 

and not reversible.  

He will take medication for the rest of his life 

and we make sure he will live happily as long as he can.

シローがずっと咳をしていたので

獣医に連れて行って検査をしてもらったら、

「僧帽弁閉鎖不全症」と診断された。

小型犬に多い病気で、スピッツにはあまりない病気らしい。

治療はできないけど、症状の進行を止めるため、

これから頑張って薬を飲み続けることになった。

一緒に頑張ろうね、シロー！

Ravensdale Forest

Drove up to The Boulevard Outlet in Banbridge

to buy a belated birthday present for my husband.

1ヶ月遅れの夫の誕生日プレゼントを買うために

北アイルランドのバンブリッジのアウトレットに行った。

In the car.

車内で。

Bought a waterproof jacket at a reasonable price,

stopped over at a service are to charge the car,

and went for a short walk in Ravensdale Forest.

山歩き用のウォータープルーフジャケットを

購入し、サービスエリアで車を充電し、

途中で Ravensdale の森で散歩。

Saw standing stones in the forest.

森では先史時代の遺跡の巨石を見た。

Cold But It Is June

When we came back from Scotland,

I was surprised to find some flowers had burst out!

スコットランドから帰って来たら

花壇に花がいっぱい咲いててびっくりした。

The sweet pea which I had failed to grow last year

came up beautifully.

I picked some and put them in a vase.

They smell very nice.

去年タネを蒔いたのに全然うまく育たなかった

スイートピーが今年はなぜか勝手に育ってくれた。

花をいくつか摘んで花瓶に飾ってみた

とてもいい香りがする。

Calceolaria bloomed this year, too.

カルセオラリアは今年も咲いてくれた。

And the doggies are making me happy

in this cold June.

犬達のおかげで

こんな寒い6月でも私は幸せ。

Holiday in Scotland 4

On the morning of our last day,

we went out to see a waterfall near our accommodation.

最終日の朝は、

滞在している宿の近くの滝を見に行った。

Then we cleaned the house and headed for

Cairnryan port.

(Somehow the port had a sign

"Loch Ryan" not "Cairnryan".)

その後は滞在している家の清掃をして、

いざケイルンライアン港へ出発。

The sea journey was very calm,

but the drive from Belfast to Dublin was

wet and horrible....

フェリーでの船旅は穏やかで

酔い止めを飲んだこともあって快適だったが、

ベルファウスト港からダブリンまでの家路は、

ずーっと大雨でなかなか大変だった😅

Holiday in Scotland 3

We were conscious that we had not done anything

particularly Scottish.

So this morning, we decide to have Scotch pancakes

for breakfast.

スコットランドに滞在しているものの、

スコットランドらしいものを見たり食べたり

全くしていないのに気付いたので、

今朝の朝食にはスコッチパンケーキを食べてみた。

 イギリスやアイルランドのパンケーキは

クレープのように薄いのだが、

スコットランドのものはアメリカンパンケーキに近い。

And the house we are staying gave us a bottle of milk

with a picture of the Scottish poet Robert Burns,

who is famous for writing "Auld Lang Syne".

また、滞在している家の方に、

配達してもらっている牛乳をいただいたのだが、

その瓶には「蛍の光」を作詞したことで

有名なスコットランドの詩人

ロバート・バーンズの肖像画が描かれている。

Today we visited 2 UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

One is New Lanark.

今日は2つのユネスコ世界遺産を見に行った。

１つはニュー・ラナーク。

We also walked in the forest nearby.

近くの森も散歩。

The other one is The Antonine Wall.

もう１つはアントニヌスの長城。

We also see the world's only lift for boats, 

The Falkirk Wheel beside the site.

その隣にある世界で唯一の船用のエレベーター

ファルカーク・ホイールも見た。

And we ended the day by getting a takeaway pizza

(not very Scottish) and drinking Irn Bru 

(very Scottish!).

そして今日は、ピザのテイクアウトの夕食と

「アイアン・ブルー」という

スコットランドで大人気のソフトドリンクで

締めくくった！
