My birthday morning started with a big surprise--

everything was covered with snow!

My first snowy birthday in my not-so-short life!!

誕生日の朝はカーテンを開けてびっくり。

一面銀世界であった。

人生初の雪のバースデイ！

Drove very carefully to Symonds Yat Rock
(which is supposed to have
one of the most spectacular view in England).

雪の中を非常に気をつけながら
Symonds Yat Rock という
イングランドで最も景色のいい場所の
１つだと見なされている所に行った。

We celebrate my birthday by
having dinner at The Verderers
in The Speech House Hotel.

誕生日は The Speech House Hotel の
 The Verderers というレストランでディナー。

The meal was good!
美味しかった。

This hotel holds a meeting for "verderers",
whose job is to manage and protect forests.

このホテルが「スピーチハウス」と呼ばれるのは
「verderers」という森を管理する役目をもつ
人々による会合が開かれているからだそうだ。

Cotswolds Holiday 1

As this weekend is a 3 day weekend,

and 18th is my birthday,

we decided to take a week holiday in Cotswolds in England.

I initially wanted to go to France like last year,

but I didn't want to put the dogs in the kennel on the boat,

so we came to England as the doggies could stay in the car

during the 2 hour boat journey.

今週末は 17 日が聖パトリックの日で３連休で、

18 日は私の誕生日なので

イングランドのコッツウォルズに 1 週間のホリデイにやってきた。

本当は去年のようにフランスに行きたかったのだが、

フランス行きのフェリーでは犬達がケンネルに入らなければならず、

去年の 9 月での経験が懲りていたので、

2 時間のフェリーの旅の間犬達が車の中で待てる、

イングランドに行くことにしたのだ。

However, I got really sick on the boat,

even though I had taken a sea sickness tablet....

しかしながら、ちゃんと酔い止めを飲んでたのに、

人生最悪の船酔いに苦しむほど海が荒れた...。

On St. Patrick's Day, we visited Tintern Abbey,

an abbey ruin made famous by Wordsworth's poem 

and Turner's painting.

17 日は、ワーズワースの詩やターナーの絵で

有名になった「ティンターン修道院」を見に行った。

Had a lunch at a doggie friendly pub called
"The Anchor Inn".

近くの犬 OK のパブでランチ。

After this, we went to Monmouth to do some grocery shopping.
We had to buy a lot of food
as heavy snow is forecasted for tomorrow....

この後はモンマスという街に行き、
スーパーで大量に食料を購入。
明日から大雪だという予報なのでそれに備えてだが...。

Spring Is Not Really Nearby.....

Spring Is On Its Way

We had a sunny day today,

though there is still some snow left.

雪はまだ残っているが

今日は晴れていいお天気であった。

Miffy has recently started playing with

a beaver toy we bought in Canada 5 years ago.

最近ミッフィーは

5年前にカナダで買ったビーバーのぬいぐるみ

で遊ぶようになった。

Very unusual for her to play with

something other than her favourite doggy toy.

ミッフィーがお気に入りの犬のぬいぐるみ以外で

遊ぶのは本当に珍しい。

When My Husband Is Not Home

The snow hasn't completely thawed yet, 

but everything is back to normal now,

and my husband goes to work as usual.

雪はまだ残っているが、

国はまた機能し始め、

夫は通常通り出勤している。

However, the doggies are unhappy

to see my husband go to work.

しかしながら、犬達は

夫が家にいないので面白くない。

I tried to make them happy

by using treats.

おやつを使ってご機嫌を取る。

I made "takoyaki" for dinner

as my husband was coming hoome late.

今日は夫が遅いので

夕食にはたこ焼きを作った。

As I was able to buy "mouli",

I made some "oden".

大根が手に入ったので

一緒におでんもどきも作って見た。

何か海の家で食べるメニューみたいだ。

ただ、前回作った時より

たこ焼きがキレイにできた！

It was tasty!

美味しかった。

The Snowiest Day Ever (for Me)

この足跡はミッフィーの彼のサモエド

「ツァー」くんと「ツァー」くんの友達のもの。

We walked in the snow for 30 minutes to a convenient store

to get some food at last!

今日は雪の中片道30分歩いて

開店しているコンビニに行って

少しの食料をなんとか入手！
