Summer Holiday in Connemara 8

 

This is the day we went back to Dublin.

In the morning before the checkout, we made a 

brief visit to Connemara National Park,

which is about 10 minutes' drive from the hotel.

この日が最終日である。

チェックアウトまでの時間、

少しだけホテルからも近い

Connemara National Parkで

少し散歩した。

(Didn't take any photo

as it was raining a bit.)

（小雨だったので

写真は撮らなかった。）

Checked out the hotel around midday,

and we headed east!

正午くらいにホテルをチェックアウトし、

東に向かって出発した。

First, we stopped at Recess Village

for my husband's Geocaching.

まず、夫のジオキャッシングのため、

リセスに立ち寄った。

Then, to see a holy well

and for my husband's Geocaching,

we stopped at Athenry.

聖なる井戸と

夫のジオキャッシングのため、

アセンライに寄った。

Athenry is famous for

the Irish Rugby Union song

"Fields of Athenry".

It looks like a lovely

old market town

with an old castle.

アイルランドのラグビーの応援歌

「フィールズ・オブ・アセンライ」

で有名なマーケット・タウンである。

古いお城もある。

I would like to visit again

more properly in future.

We just bought a sandwich

in a newsagent in town.

街ではコンビニで

サンドウィッチを買って

公園で食べただけである。

一度きちんと観光してみたい。

Very, very well maintained.

There is even a pump for the well!

アセンライの聖なる井戸。

凄く大きな

崇拝の場になっているようだ。

井戸にはポンプもある！

This is supposed to cure a headache....

これで頭痛が治るというが...。

Then, to see a holy well

and for my husband's Geocaching,

we stopped at Drum, Co. Roscommon.

ロスコモン県のドラムに寄った。

After this we just continued to

drive east to Dublin.

It was a relaxing and great holiday!

この後はひたすら

ダブリンに向かって東に

運転を続け帰宅した。

多くのことはやらなかったが、

のんびりした楽しい旅行になった。

Our last full day in Connemara.

The weather was not perfect,

but we made the most of it.

コネマラも最終日。

お天気はイマイチであるが、

できるだけ楽しむ努力をする。

We went back to Renvyle again

to search for the holy well

for the last time.

But we couldn't find it.

レンバイルの聖なる井戸

についての情報を色々と調べ、

諦めきれずに

もう1度探しに行ってみたが、

やはり見つからなかった。

The bridge where a daughter of

the owner of Kylemore Abbey

died in an cart accident in 1892.

1892年にカイルモア城

（今のカイルモア修道院）の

持ち主の娘が

馬車の事故で亡くなった橋。

We drove to Leenane to

visit St. Joseph's Holy Well.

聖ジョゼフの聖なる井戸を

見るために

リーナンに行った。

Before that,

we had lunch at

Sheep and Wool Centre.

井戸を見る前に

Sheep and Wool Centre

で昼食を取った。

At the well,

there is a proper plaque

and well sign posted--

very different from our previous 

holy well experiences

in Connemara.

井戸には

プラークがあるし

きちんとサインもあり

今までのコネマラでの

聖なる井戸とは全く異なっている。

We went to Omey Island,

an island you can drive to

when the tide is low.

We checked the tide in advance,

and drove to the island.

干潮の時だけ行くことのできる

オーミー島に行った。

もちろん事前に潮をチェックして、

行き帰りの時間も考えて

車で行った。

There is a holy well on the island--

St. Féchín’s holy well.

島には聖なる井戸もある。

Shiro had a swim.

シローは泳いだ。

We got rained on and so soaked that

we had to go back to the hotel

and change clothes after this.

島では雨に降られ、

びしょびしょになってしまったので

本土に戻った後、

ホテルに帰って着替えた。

In the afternoon,

we drove to Clifden

to have lunch and

do some laundry.

午後はクリフデンに行き、

昼食を取り、

そしてコインランドリーを

使用した。

All the people we met at the laundrette

were tourists, including us.

コインランドリーを

使用している人は

我々を含み、

全員観光客であった。

On this day, we drove around where we were staying.

The doggies had a swim in the beautiful beach.

この日の午前中は、

ホテルから遠くないところをドライブ。

犬達はきれいなビーチで泳いだ。

We also encountered donkeys.

そしてロバにも遭遇。

Then, I was able to find a holy well

in  Moyard.

It's St. Ceannannach’s Well

(also called St. Gregory's Well).

そしてついに

ホテルからそう遠くないところで

聖なる井戸を発見！

聖グレゴリーの井戸。

There is no sign post,

no indication.

Very neglected....

今まで見つけた

聖なる井戸とは異なり

標識もなければ説明もない。

We couldn't find the previous

2 wells precisely because of that!

この前に探した2つの井戸も

それが理由で見つけられなかった！

In the afternoon, we visited

Kylemore Abbey.

午後にはカイルモア修道院に行った。

The most magnificent building in Ireland.

アイルランドで一番立派な建物。

This shows how powerful

Catholic religion was.

アイルランドでカトリック教の

力が強かったことを示す。

French monks we saw.

フランス人の修道僧。

The weather held up nicely.

天気もまずまずで楽しい1日だった。

Summer Holiday in Connemara 4

 

It was a sunny day, so we decided to

get a boat from Cleggan to

Inisbofin.

いいお天気だったので

クレガンという波止場から

近くの島イニスボフィンに行った。

On the boat.

船上で。

As we were with the doggies,

we didn't hire bicycles,

which most people do.

We kept walking.

犬達が一緒だったので

他の観光客のように

自転車を借りずに

ひたすら歩いた。

St Colman's Monastery

There is supposed to be a holy well.

But yet again, we could not find it....

ここにも聖なる井戸があるはずだが、

ここでも見つけられなかった...。

We arrived at a beautiful sandy beach.

And the doggies enjoy it, too.

犬も泳げるきれいな砂浜を発見。

早速犬達入水。

We had a lovely time.

楽しかった。

Apart from the boat journey...

(I got terribly sea sick.)

船での経験以外。

（船酔いで大変だった。）
