My Summer Project

We have this old cabinet my husband inherited 

from his great aunt when we bought our first house 15 years ago.

I painted it in (horrible) blue at that time.

I didn't like it and I had been wanting to change it.

So this summer, I decide to go ahead!

15年前に最初の家を買った時に

夫が大叔母（祖父の妹）からいただいた古いキャビネット。

その時に（変な）青色に自分で塗ったのだが、

気に入らなくてずーっと変えたいと思っていた。

そしてこの夏、ついにその時がやってきた！

A small part of the cabinet is visible with puppy Shiro.

赤ちゃん時代のシローと一緒にキャビネットが見える。

Removing the blue paint.

ペンキ剥がし中。

Using an electric sander to remove more paint. 

電気サンダーでもっとキレイに剥がす。

Started to use white paint.

白いペンキを塗り始めた。

Finished!

完成！

Russborough House

Visited Russborough House in Co. Wicklow

and had a lovely walk & a picnic on the site.

Russborough Houseに出かけ、

敷地内で散歩とピクニックを楽しんだ。

As we were with the dogs, we couldn't get inside,

but I'd love to come back and do the tour.

I could peek into a life like Downton Abbey's.

(We are both watching the DVDs now,

and really hooked....)

今日は犬達と一緒だったので

お屋敷の中に入ることはできなかったが、

次回は是非中に入って見学してみたい。

今、夫婦で凝っている

「ダウントン・アビー」のような生活様式を

垣間見ることができるかも（笑）。

Before visiting the house, the dogs had a short swim 

in nearby Blessington Lake.

Cleaner? (Hope So)

As my work schedule has got a bit quieter,

I washed the dogs today.

忙しかった仕事も一段落したので、

犬たちを洗ってみた。

They look a bit unhappy, and

don't look as clean in the photos as in the real...

実物は真っ白なのに写真ではそう見えない（涙）。

Kilbogget Park

Visited Kilbogget Park today.

We lived near there for a year.

以前住んでいた所の近くにある

Kilbogget Parkに久しぶりに行ってみた。

Shiro had a swim.

シローは川で泳いだ。

Miffy sniffed.

ミッフィーは川のそばをクンクンする。

There is an art object behind Miffy.

ミッフィーの後ろにあるのは芸術作品。

"I prefer a real edible fish", says Miffy.

「食べれる魚の方がいいかも」ミッフィー。

I think this inedible fish is nice.

Morning:

Cleaning the yogurt container for recycling to save the planet.

朝：

地球温暖化を防ぐため、

ヨーグルトのプラスチック容器を洗浄。

Of course my favourite doggy tie 

sits right beside me.

もちろんお気に入りの犬のぬいぐるみを

近くに待機させておく。

Afternoon:

My butler takes me out for a walk--

today I went to Killiney Hill

with my brother Shiro.

午後：

私の執事が散歩に連れてってくれる。

今日は兄のシローも一緒だった。

Evening:

I like relaxing with my favourite things--

especially I enjoying playing with my doggy toy.

夜：

好きなものに囲まれてリラックス。

その中でも最もお気に入りの犬のぬいぐるみと

遊ぶのが本当に大好き。

I think I have a happy life.

まあ、幸せかな。

Balancing Act

I'm still buried in the middle of the busy work.

I'm trying to see and do something I like during the breaks.

まだまだ忙しい日々が続いている。

休憩時間には自分の好きなことをして気を紛らわせている。

The dogs have to be walked no matter how busy I am.

(I enjoy going out with them, anyway!)

どんなに忙しくても犬達を散歩に連れて行かなければならない。

（今の時期は一緒に外に出るのは楽しいから苦にならないし！）

The flower I bought at Bloom last year.

I thought it had died, but a tiny fraction survived,

and I found a flower this morning 

(and a bud behind it).

去年のBloomで買ったお花。

全部枯れちゃったと思っていたら、

茎一本だけ生き残っていて

今日それに花が咲いているのを発見！

（そして花の後ろには蕾も。）

I should feel lucky.

(I Need) More Oasis for the Mind.

On top of the busy work,

I seem to have developed a kind of insomnia....

Constantly feeling tired, but not being able to sleep.

仕事が忙しい上に、

どうやら不眠症になってしまったようだ。

常に疲れているのだが、

夜は頭がギンギンに冴えて眠れない....。

However, this busy schedule can't go on forever (I hope),

and I should look forward to the reward later on :-))

まあ、この忙しさも永遠に続くはずはないし、

この後のご褒美を楽しみに乗り切ろう。

In the meantime, more things that make me get through.

忙しい合間に小さな喜びをもたらすもの。

And my sleeping tablet...

そして私の睡眠薬。

An Oasis for the Mind

I'm so busy with work at the moment.

I know I should feel lucky as a freelancer,

but I find it a bit difficult to keep my spirits up.

仕事が忙しい。

フリーランスとしてはありがたいが、

余りにも忙しすぎてちょっとツライ。

Miffy Anniversary

5th July is the day Miffy came to live with us.

That was 5 years ago.

７月５日はミッフィーのうちの子記念日。

今日で５年目だ。

9th July 2010

その４日後

Miffy was a lot skinnier then.

あの当時は痩せてたな、ミッフィー。

I hope she's happy to live with us.

うちに来てよかったと思ってくれてるかな？

I made plum jam today

as I found cheap plums in Aldi.

Aldiでプラムが安かったので

大量に購入してジャムを作った。

Shiro the Hero 2

This morning, Shiro was attacked by a dog called "Taro".

The owners of the dog are a Japanese husband and an Irish wife

whom everybody talked about to me but I haven't met yet,

before we moved to the house we're living now.

今朝、夫が犬たちとの朝サンポ中に、

シローは「タロー君」という犬に引っ掻かれてしまった。

（「タロー君」の飼い主さんは、近所に住んでおられる

日本人のご主人とアイルランド人の奥さんの夫婦で、

今の家に引っ越す前に色んな人に

「そこにはXX夫妻がいますよ〜」と言われたのだが、

私は１度もお会いしたことがない。）

Coping with a slight injury on the face (and his pride)....

傷ついた左目の隣（とプライド）に耐えるシロー...。

Taro was just being friendly....

(Miffy can be more scary....)

タロー君は遊びに度が過ぎただけだよ。

（ミッフィーの方が怖い時あるよ...。）
