We drove to Bayeux, a famous place with a tapestry,
which is a Unesco World Heritage.
今日はバイユーという街に行った。
ユネスコ世界遺産のタペストリーで有名な場所だ。
When we arrived there, the first thing I did was
going to Yves Rocher shop to buy some skin lotion bottles
for my French friend 🤗
まず最初に私がしたのは、Yves Rocher に行き、
フランス人の友人に頼まれていた
スキンローションを買うことであった🤗。
Then we had lunch at a restaurant near the cathedral.
それから大聖堂の近くで昼食。
I had a galette with potatoes, mushrooms and gizzard.
It was very tasty.
私はジャガイモ、マッシュルーム、鴨の砂肝入りの
ガレットを食べた。
とても美味しかった。
In front of the cathedral.
大聖堂の前で。
We didn't see the tapestry!!
Instead we went inside the cathedral
which used to keep the tapestry.
(It has moved to the museum.)
何とここまで来たのに世界遺産のタペストリーは見なかった！
代わりに以前タペストリーがあった大聖堂の中を見た。
（タペストリーは現在博物館内で展示されている。）
There was information displayed on Father Marc de Rotz,
who went to Japan during the Meiji era as a missionary.
大聖堂の中にはここで牧師になり
明治時代に日本に渡った
マーク・ド・ロ神父に関する記述が展示されていた。
Then I and my husband went separate ways--
he went Geocaching with the doggies,
I rambled around the town.
それから夫とは別行動−−
夫は犬達とGeocaching、
私は街内を散策。
After we reunited, we drove to Omaha Beach,
noted for its "Normandy Landing".
This was also included in the film "Saving Private Ryan".
夫と合流後、オマハビーチまでドライブ。
ここは第２時大戦中ノルマンディ上陸作戦の地として有名になり、
映画「プライベートライアン」でも描写されている。
It was so peaceful and quiet that it was hard to imagine
such a gruesome event took place.
このような静かな浜辺で
あんな残虐な戦闘が行われたとは想像できない。
We need to be grateful of this peaceful moment.
平和に感謝。
