One Fine Day

It was a cold but fine day today.

寒かったがいいお天気の１日だった。

When I took the doggies for a walk in the park,

I saw 2 Japanese (probably) housewives goring for a walk.

公園で犬達と散歩していると、

主婦と思われる二人の日本人女性も散歩していた。

Lemons are turning yellow (at last!).

やっとレモンが色づいてきた。

 And kumquat, too.

金柑も色づいてきた。

My husband's home made cider is fermenting.

(But it's nothing to do with me as I don't drink.)

夫の手作りシードルも発酵中。

（私はお酒を呑まないので全く興味ないが--笑。）

Autumn in Massy's Wood

Went to Massy's Wood for a walk.

今日の犬散歩は Massy's Wood へ。

 Miffy, watch out!

ミッフィー、後ろ後ろ！

 "What?"

「何？」

I made a pouch with marimekko fabric.

..... Kind of OK.....

マリメッコの布地でがま口を作ってみた。

うーん、出来は60点くらいかな。

Camera Bag

I made a camera bag today.

The one I was using came with the camera,

and it was a boring one.

一眼レフ用のカメラバッグが完成。

今まで使っていたのは

カメラ購入時に付いて来たもので、

真っ黒でちょっと味気なかった。

I used old Snoopy print.

古いスヌーピーの絵柄の布地を使用。

個人的にこっちのスヌーピーの方が

犬っぽくて好き。

When I took the doggies for a walk,

Miffy found a piece of bread an pretzel.

She completely ignored my command

and finished them....

今日の散歩中、

ミッフィーが草むらで

パンとプレッツェルを見つけた。

食べないように命令したのに、

それを全く無視して完食。

Bad girl, Miffy!

Shiro was a good boy.

(He looks like a body boy, though.)

Next year's calendar arrived today.

I used the photos from the holiday in Sweden.

来年のカレンダーが今日到着。

今回はスウェーデンでのホリデーの写真を使用した。

Budapest 3

It is no doubt a beautiful city.

But the transport from the airport to the city centre

is not very convenient.

ブダペストは美しい街だった。

でも、空港から市街地までの交通の便はかなり悪い。

So we bought this Budapest Card at the airport.
そこでこのブタペストカードを空港で購入した。

It cost about 15 euro and most public transport is free
for the 24 hours.
It also gives a discount to lot of places,
including a free entry to one of the baths.

日本円で約1800円で、
24時間ほとんどの交通機関が乗り放題、
店やレストランなどの割引が受けられ、
かなりお得。

And we also got this free mug and mulled wine
at the Christmas Market because of the card.
(I only got the mug as I don't drink alcohol.)

また、カードのおかげでこのマグとグリューワイン
をクリスマスカーケットで無料でもらえた。
（私はお酒は呑まないのでマグだけもらった。）

I was also surprised to see "Jamie's Italian" restaurant
in the castle district in Buda.
Is this his excuse to go to Budapest often?

イタリアンレストランがありビックリ。
これはジェイミーがブタペストに行くための言い訳ですか？？

This time we didn't go to the famous public bath.

We would like to go back to Budapest one day,

so maybe at that time

(and the dentist, too...).

今回はブダペストの有名な公衆浴場には行かなかったが、

次回は是非行って見たい。

ハンガリーにはアイルランドから

なんと歯の治療を受けるために大勢の人が押しかける。

（アイルランドの歯医者は本当に高いので

飛行機＆ホテル代を出してハンガリーに行っても

元が取れるらしい−−汗。）

次回は歯の治療も兼ねて行ってみようか！？

Budapest 2 -- Buda & Pest

 The next morning we walked on The Széchenyi Chain Bridge

to go to Buda.

翌朝セーチェーニ鎖橋を渡ってブダ側に渡った。

 And got the funicular to see the Castle on the hill.

そしてケーブルカーで丘を登る。

Hungary's saint is St. Stephen.

In Ireland St. Stephen's Day is a bank holiday

as it is December 26 (the next day of Christmas Day),

even though he's nothing to do with Ireland!

(Ireland's saint is St. Patrick, of course)

ハンガリーの守護聖人は聖スティーブン。

アイルランドでは聖スティーブンの日は祝日だ。

アイルランドには全く関係ない聖人だが、

聖スティーブンの日はクリスマスの翌日の

１２月２６日だから祝日にしているそうだ（笑）。

アイルランドの聖人は聖パトリック。

Back to Pest for lunch.

This is a Synagogue.

The biggest in Europe, the third biggest in the world.

昼食のためにペスト側に戻る。

このシナゴーグは欧州で最大、

世界でも３番めに大きいそうだ。

We had a lunch in a restaurant called "Gettó Gulyás"

in the Jewish quarter.

ランチはこのユダヤ人街にある

Gettó Gulyásというレストランで食べた。

It was delicious!

美味しかった。

I washed the doggies today even though I still suffer from tennis elbows....

まだテニス肘で腕が痛いが今日は頑張って犬達を洗った。

Budapest 1 -- Pest

As my husband had to take another flight 

with this particular air company before the end of December

in order to keep his 100,000 air miles had accumulated,

we went on a super short weekend holiday in Budapest!

今年中にある航空会社を１度も使わないと、

夫が今まで貯めたマイル数が全部消滅してしまうので、

思い立って週末だけ１泊２日でハンガリーの首都ブダペストに行って来た！

As that company doesn't fly to Budapest from Dublin directly,

we had to take 2 flights and it took as more than 6 hours....

We had to get up at 3 and be at Dublin airport by 5.

その航空会社にはダブリンからブダペストへの直行便はないので、

飛行機を乗り継いで６時間かけて行った（涙）。

朝３時に起きて５時までにダブリン空港に行かねばならなかった。

As the weather forecast said it would rain mostly,

I didn't bring my SLR camera.

But in the end, we had warm dry weather.

天気予報では雨が降ると言ってたので、

一眼レフを持って行かなかったのだが、

結局ほとんど降らず、その上ものすごく暖かかった！

Had a coffee break at a cake shop called "Szamos" 

which was established in 1935.

 Szamosという1935年創立のケーキショップで

コーヒーブレイク。

 After reading the history of the shop,

I was reminded of the film "The Grand Budapest Hotel"

(it was a great film!).

お店の歴史を読んだら

何故か映画「グランド・ブダペスト・ホテル」を思い出した。

（良い映画だった！）

BTW, my father-in-law and his wife looked after the doggies

while we were away.

I'm so grateful.

旅行中は義父夫妻に犬たちの面倒を見ていただいた。

本当にありがたい。
