Halloween

A lot of fireworks are going on, 

and our dogs wouldn't stop barking!

At least they're not scared, though....

あちこちで花火があがっていて

その度に犬達が大騒ぎする（涙）。

怯えてびくびくされるよりはいいけど。

 

Short Break in Antrim 4 -- Miscellenous

途中で見かけたカラフルな電話ボックス。

夕食を食べたレストランにあったサイン。

BTW, I took this photo

while I was passing through the North

(probably Omagh) last week

when I had to go to Letterkenny for work.

ちなみにこの写真は

先週出張でドネゴールに行った時に

途中で通った北アイルランドで撮影。

多分オマーだったと思う。

We really had a good time.

楽しかった。

Short Break in Antrim 3 -- Retail Therapy

The Northern Ireland is a part of UK.

For that reason, I can buy some things I can't find

in the Republic.

北アイルランドは一応イギリスだ。

そのせいか、アイルランドにはないものが

手に入ったりする。

I love shopping in the North!

北アイルランドで買物するのは大好き。

Went to Banbridge Outlet for clothe shopping.

I bought 2 dresses

as I will be attending a couple of parties soon.

 

Banbridge Outletで洋服を4枚購入。

その内の2枚は、

今年2回パーティーに行くことになっているので

そのためのワンピース。

And bought these in Sainsbury, the supermarket.

セインズベリーというスーパーでこれらを購入。

アズキと豆腐。

アイルランドにも怪しい豆腐はある。

これは日本製なのでちょっとは美味しいかも、

と少々期待している。

I didn't buy these sweet chestnuts, but

picked them in Antrim Castle garden.

People in Ireland (& UK) don't eat them much.

これらの栗は買ったのではなく

アントリム・キャッスルで拾った。

こちらの人はあまり食べないので大量に落ちてた。

Looking forward to eating them!

食べるのが楽しみだ！

Short Break in Antrim 2 -- Antrim Castle

The garden in Antrim Castle site.

アントリム・キャッスルの庭園を散歩。

There is a cemetery of the people who lived in the castle.

お城に住んでいた人々のお墓も敷地にある。

The pattern of Celtic Cross reminds me of

the Aran knitting pattern.

ケルティック・クロスのパターンは

アラン編みのパターンに似ている。

相互関係があるのだろうか。

We didn't really have the storm,

and had a wonderful walk.

天気予報で言われてた嵐とやらには

遭遇しなかった。

Short Break in Antrim 1

The last weekend of October is a bank holiday weekend.

On the night before (Friday night),

we suddenly decided to have a short break in 

Antrim in Northern Ireland.

The weather looked unpromising with a big storm forecast,

but we went anyway!

10月の最終週末はこちらでは3連休。

前日の金曜の夜、急に思い立って

北アイルランドのアントリムに1泊しに行くことに決定。

天気予報では嵐になるということだったけど、

我々はそんなことではくじけない！

 It was pouring rain when we went out for 

Geocaching in Crumlin Glen.  

However, nothing comes in the way 

between Geocaching and my husband.

And wherever my husband goes,

the doggies are happy to follow him.

 

大雨の中、クラムリンの谷で

ジオキャッシングをする夫。

勿論犬達もレインコート着用でお伴。

B&B we stayed in.

It was very good & reasonable.

We'd like to come back again.

お世話になったB&B。

いい宿だったので是非また利用したい。

Countdown to Halloween

My husband bought a pumpkin for Jack O'Lantern.

I bought ingredients for making a braic.

ハロウィンへのカウントダウンが始まった！

夫がジャック・オランターン用のカボチャを買って来た。

私もブラック用の材料を購入。

"Judge Judy" is on the TV in the background :-)

(My guilty pleasure...)

I also bought coffee beans 

and Darjeeling tea at Bewley's in Blackrock.

ビューリーズで

コーヒー豆とダージリンティーも購入。

Darjeeling tea is not very popular here

so it's a bit difficult to buy.

私はダージリンティーが大好きだが、

この国では入手し難い。

 The coffee tin came from France a few years ago.

コーヒーを入れる缶の容器は

数年前にフランスで買った。

They are more excited about my husband....

夫の方がハロウィンよりいいみたい...。

I still have to buy treats for kids coming at the door

on October 31st.

Mazy the Amazing Japanese Spitz

My work in town today finished a lot earlier than expected.

I was able to come home while it was sunny and bright,

so I decided to take the dogs out for a short walk.

Then we bumped into Mazy again!

Great!

今日の街での仕事が予定よりずっと早く終り、

明るいうちに家に帰れたので

犬達をちょっとだけ散歩に連れて行った。

すると以前会ったメイジーちゃんに再び遭遇！ 

やったね！

Miffy tried to compete.

明日は仕事で出張に行くので、

少しでも犬達と一緒に遊べる時間ができてよかった。

Shiro's Predicament Is Over Now

Last week, Shiro got injured in his left front paw.

The nail broke and he was bleeding.

We went to the vet, and got some pain killers and antibiotics.

先週、シローの左前足の爪が折れて

足をけがしてしまった。

獣医で痛み止めと抗生物質をいただき、

毎日飲ませていた。

Today he went back to the vet and

was told he is fine now!

今日もう1度獣医に行きチェックしてもらい、

「もう大丈夫」と言われて安心！

 This is Shiro in the vet car park

He seems to be traumatised by the previous experience

at the vet.　

He looks unsure...

これは今日獣医の駐車場でのシロー。

前回、痛い足を触られまくり、

痛い爪を切られてツライ思いをした（涙）。

But he got happier at home!

Especially with his walrus!

家に帰ってセイウチと遊んだら

元気になったね！

大好きなお父さんも夕方には帰って来て、

ミッフィーと一緒でも幸せ！

I roasted beef for dinner

as I found a very tasty looking beef 

in the local Tesco.

近所のスーパー・テスコで

美味しそうなビーフを見つけたので

夕食にはローストビーフを作った。

It was good!

We couldn't finish the whole beef today.

We'll eat the rest tomorrow,

as I'll have to work all day in town and

won't be able to cook dinner.

美味しかったが

今日1日では食べきれなかったので

残りは明日食べることにする。

明日は久々に街で1日中仕事があり

夕食を準備できないから丁度いい。

Went to Dalkey, 

a posh seaside village in South Dublin.

ドーキーという

ダブリン南部のオシャレな港町にでかけた。

My husband's in the middle of Geocaching.

He's wearing an Aran jumper

which his late aunt made for him.

I'd like make something like this one day.

その脇から「家政婦は見た」状態のシロー。

夫が来ているアラン・セーターは

夫の亡くなった叔母さんのお手製。

こういうのいつか作ってみたい。

Irish and Japanese Hybrid

When I was living in Japan,

stuff called "shio koji"

 (salt blended fermentation starter made from rice) 

was very popular for cooking.

I tried it and really liked it, too.

昨年日本に滞在していた時、

塩麹がブームになっていた。

私も使ってみてすっかりファンになった。

It's impossible to get it in Ireland,

so I brought back a dry form one with which

you can make "shio koji" by mixing with salt.

液状なので日本から持って帰ってくるのは

大変そうだったので、

乾燥した麹を持って来た。

I'm going to make it,

using award-winning Irish Atlantic salt. 

It's a hybrid between Ireland and Japan.

 

アイルランドで賞を取った

大西洋岸で取れた塩を使って作ってみようと思う。

アイルランドと日本の代表作のハーモニー（笑）。

 

結果は後日また...。

beside Phoenix Park today.

我が家のアイルランドと日本のハーモニー達

（アイルランド生まれの日本スピッツ）と

フェニックス公園（ヨーロッパで最も大きな公園）の

隣にあるLongmeadows Parkに行って来た。

Neven Maguire's Smoked Salmon & Red Onion Quiche

Made a smoked salmon & red onion quiche,

using a recipe from Neven Maguire, 

one of the best chefs in Ireland.

アイルランドで最も有名なシェフ、

Neven Maguireのレシピで

スモークサーモンとレッドオニオンの

キッシュを作ってみた。

隣にはカナダで買ったオーブン・ミトン（笑）。

It's pouring rain today.

I drove my husband to our local train station.

After that I took the dogs briefly

to Killiney Hill for a walk.

They got really wet!

今日は大雨なので

夫を駅まで車で送り、

その後キライニーヒルで

ちょっとだけ犬達と散歩。

犬も私も濡れた濡れた（笑）。

The dogs get close and cosy

何故か2匹とも仲良し。

Cessna Flight

My husband took me out for a Cessna flight above Co. Meath,

where the plane he co-owns is stored.

This was my first time to go on a flight

since we came back from Japan.

夫が共同で所有するセスナで

ダブリン近辺の空の散歩に出かけた。

夫の操縦するセスナに乗るのは

日本から帰って来て初めてだ。
