Summer Holiday in France 2022 Day 10

In the morning, my husband went to Fouras,

to return the bicycle he had rented 

on the previous day.

午前中、夫は

昨日レンタルしていた自転車を

フラまで返しに行った。

After lunch at home,

it started raining and continued raining

all day.

Even 3 years ago,

we never had a rainy day

in this part of France,

so it was a bit of shock to us.

宿で昼食を取った後、

雨が降り出し、

午後はずっと雨で寒かった。

3年前に来た時にも

1度も雨が降らなかったので

ちょっと変な感じだった。

So we stayed home

for the rest of the day.

It was OK, as I was asked to do

some work.

仕方ないのでその後は

1日中宿で過ごした。

私は仕事を依頼されたので

ちょうどよかった。

The house has a lot of

Japanese comics.

Unfortunately, I'm not knowledgeable

about Japanese comics, though....

滞在している家には

日本の漫画本がたくさんあった。

もちろんフランス語に訳されている。

残念ながら漫画には詳しくないので、

日本で人気あるものなのか

どうなのかもわからない...。

 

Summer Holiday in France 2022 Day 9

 

I'm already back in Ireland,

but I'll keep writing about the holiday anyway...

すでにアイルランドに戻っているが、

フランス旅行について

書き続けることにする😅

This day was a shopping day.

Leaving Miffy at home,

we went to a big shopping complex 

in Puilboreau, near La Rochelle.

今日は買い物デー。

ミッフィーは宿で留守番。

ラ・ロシェル近くの

大きなショッピングセンターに行った。

My first target was to buy fabric (again)!

There are two fabric shops.

I went to both of them,

but I couldn't really find

a lot of things I want in neither shops.

最初の目的地は布地の店。

そこには2つ布地の店があるが、

前回とは異なり

欲しいと思う布地がどちらの店にもなかった。

I bought some pens for fabric

and snaps and snap pliers,

and small amount of fabric remnants.

結局、布地用のペンと

スナップボタン、

スナップ用のプライヤー、

そして少しだけハギレを買った。

In the hypermarket,

I wanted to buy jam making kit

(which I buy every time I go to France,

but I couldn't find this time),

some wines for souvenir

(which I got with no problem).

ハイパーマーケットでは

毎年フランスで買う

手作りジャムキットを買いたかったが、

今年はなぜかどこでも見つからない。

しかし、お土産用の

ワインを数本購入。

When choosing wines,

I was horrified to discover that

Baileys (Irish Cream Whiskey) is

much much much cheaper

than Ireland in France!!

I had brought a bottle of Baileys

for our landlady at AirBnB!

Embarrassing....

(There is something significantly

wrong with this phenomenon, though!!)

ワインを選んでいる際、

ふと目をやったら

アイルランドのベイリーズが

アイルランドの半額以下で

売られていることに気づき

大ショック！

滞在している家の持ち主に

アイルランドのお土産として

持ってきていたからだ。

恥ずかしい🫣

Summer Holiday in France 2022 Day 8

I decided this day is a relaxing day for me.

My husband rented a bicycle

and went around Geocaching nearby,

while I was resting at home.

私は個人的にこの日は

ノンビリする日だと決めた。

夫が自転車をレンタルして

ジオキャッシングをしている間、

私は宿でゆっくりした。

Miffy was in the bedroom with me.

I couldn't believe how Miffy looked

like Shiro from this angle....

ミッフィーは私と一緒に

家でのんびりした。

この角度から見たらミッフィーが

シローにそっくりなので驚いた。

In the afternoon, we drove to

Le Port-des-Barques

and had a relaxing time.

I even had a bit of swim

in the segregated sea water area.

午後はル・ポール・デ・バルクの

浜辺でゆっくりと過ごした。

海のそばに潮に影響されない

遊泳地域があったので

そこで泳いだりもした。

That was good.

良いひとときであった。

We got a boat from Fouras

and went to Île-d'Aix.

フラの波止場からフェリーに乗って

イル・デックスという島に行った。

Fort Énet.

エネ要塞。

Lunc on the island.

島でランチ。

Miffy behaving well in the restaurant.

ミッフィーもレストランで良い子であった。

We went to La Rochelle.

This place is full of Shiro's memories, too.

ラ・ロシェルに車で行った。

ここもシローの想い出がいっぱいある。

One of the purposes for me was

to go to a fabric shop.

It was a very nice shop😃 called

"Bleu Framboise".

ラ・ロシェルに行く目的の1つは

布地の店に行くことであった。

そしてとっても素敵な

「Bleu Framboise」という店に

行くことができた。

What I bought:

買った布地：

It's a lovely town.

いいところだ。

We went to Fort Énet from Fouras,

which can be reached on foot

when the tide is very low.

フラからエネ要塞まで行った。

干潮の時には歩いて行けるのだ。

My husband suddenly remembered that

he did have a doctor in France!

He rang the doctor and made an appointment,

and was able to see him in the end.

夫が突然、

フランスで医者に診てもらったことが

あることを思い出し、

そこに電話すると

中耳炎を診察してもらえることになった。

He got some antibiotics

and ear drops.

抗生物質と耳の薬を

処方してもらえた。

We were very lucky to have this holiday

quite near the place we came 3 years ago.

3年前に来た場所から

遠くないところに来ることにして

本当に幸運であった。

We drove to Rochefort,

the nearest big town in the area.

I thought we were doing some sightseeing.

近くの大きな街ロッシュフォー

まで車で出かけた。

観光をするものだと思って。

However, what my husband had in mind was,

to look for a doctor who will see his ear.

Because of Covid-19,

it turned out to be very difficult.

しかし、夫の目的は

中耳炎を診察してくれる医者を

探すことであった。

そして、コロナのせいで

どの医者も一見さんは診察してくれない。

He even rang the travel insurance company

and asked for help--

they were useless.

ダブリンの旅行保険会社にも

電話してみたが

全く役に立たなかった。

We had picnic lunch in the park

and went home!

公園でピクニックのランチを食べ、

疲れ果ててしまったので

そのまま帰宅した！

We met another dog in the buggy

while charging our car

in front of Thermal Bath Spa Hotel.

This is not a resort hotel.

People need a doctor's letter

to use this facility.

医者の紹介状が必要な

温泉ホテルの駐車場で

車の充電をしていたら、

色違いの同じカートに乗った

ワンちゃんに遭遇した。

In the evening,

we drove to Yves,

which is supposed to be 

a doggy friendly beach.

Well, it wasn't a beach as such.

夕食後、

犬も泳げるビーチがあるという

イヴというところに行ってみた。

ビーチという感じではなかった。

On our first day in Fouras,

we went to a restaurant in town

and had lunch.

フラでの1日目。

まず、中心部に行って

レストランで昼食を取った。

Fort Vauban on the beach.

ヴォーバンの要塞。

We didn't do a lot of things,

as my husband started to suffer

from an ear infection.

あまり多くのことをしなかった。

と、言うのも

夫が中耳炎になってしまったからだ。

After we landed in Roscoff,

we stopped over in a town called

Saint-Pol-de-Léon to have breakfast.

ロスコフ到着後、

サン＝ポル＝ド＝レオンという街に

寄って朝食を食べた。

We chose this place at random, but 

it seems to be a very historical interesting place.

適当に選んで立ち寄った場所だが、

歴史的にも興味深い場所であるようだ。

We stayed in La Roche-Bernard,

as Fouras is quite far from Roscoff

to drive in one day,

ロスコフからフラまで

１日で一気に運転するには少々遠いので、

途中のラ・ロッシュ＝ベルナール

に泊まることにした。

This is our 4th time to come to this place,

and each time we stayed in this lovely

dog friendly hotel called "l'auberge bretonne".

この場所に来るのは今回で4度目で、

いつも必ず犬も泊まれるこの素敵なホテルに

お世話になっている。

3 years ago.

3年前。

The nice restaurant at the hotel

was closed on that day,

so we went to a restaurant

recommended by the hotel owner.

ホテルの美味しいレストランは

その日は閉店だったので、

ホテルのオーナーさんオススメの

別のレストランで夕食を食べた。

This place has so many memories

associated with Shiro.

この場所はシローとの想い出が

たくさんあるところだ。

Summer Holiday in France 2022 Day 1

 

This is the first summer holiday we have had

without Shiro.

We started this kind of holiday

--going to the continent by boat--

because of Shiro.

Everything we do reminds us of our little prince.

シローが旅立ってから

初めての海外旅行。

フェリーでヨーロッパ大陸に

出かけるというスタイルは

シローと旅行したいという

理由で2008年に始めたものだ。

The destination is a place called "Fouras",

not very far from La Rochelle,

the capital of the Charente-Maritime department,

where we went to 3 years ago.

That was Shiro's last foreign holiday,

as it turned out...

行き先は「フラ」という場所で、

3年前に行ったラ・ロシェルから

車で30分くらいのところにある。

3年前のフランス旅行が

シローの最後の海外旅行になってしまった。

First, we took a ferry from Cork to Roscoff.

まず、アイルランドのコークから

フランスのロスコフまでフェリーに乗った。

As usual, we got a dog friendly cabin.

This time, we sailed with Pont-Aven,

the more luxurious boat,

as it started to have dog friendly cabins.

いつものように犬も泊まれる

客室を予約した。

違うのは、今回から大きな客船

Pont-Avenを使っているところだ。

今年から犬も泊まれる客室が

できたからだ。

Pont-Aven has a nicer restaurant than Connemara.

Pont-Avenは大きな客船なので

いいレストランがある。
