I'm on my short visit to Japan

to look after my father.

父の簡単な面倒を見るために

大阪に弾丸帰省中。

However, as is usual with me,

I have been bombarded with a lot of translation work 😢

しか〜し、いつものことながら、

日本に帰国中はものすごい量の仕事が入る😢

I'll do my best....

がんばります...。

それにしても日本は良いものが安くて、

購買欲を抑えるのが非常に難しい。

Quiet Christmas

This year we had a very quiet Christmas day--

just two of us and the doggies.

今年のクリスマスは夫と犬達と静かに過ごした。

It was sunny in the morning

so we went out for a walk at the Hellfire Club

(Montpelier Hill).

いいお天気だったので、

午前中は The Hellfire Club (Montpelier Hill)

の丘に出かけた。

My husband cooked Christmas dinner.

夫がクリスマスディナーを作ってくれた。

Starter: blini with smoked salmon & quail eggs.

スターター：ブリニとスモークサーモンとうずら卵。

Main: Vegetarian beef wellington

メイン：ベジタリアン・ビーフウェリントン

Christmas Present from my husband: Walking boots.

Surviving without Dad

My husband is in Canada at the moment

for family matters.

The doggies are missing him a lot,

so I have to look after them

more carefully than usual.

夫が叔父さんのお葬式のため

カナダに滞在中。

夫大好きな犬達は寂しそう。

私もいつもより注意して面倒をみている。

Nonetheless, they are happy 

when they are out for a walk.

 ただ、お散歩に連れて行くと

やはり元気いっぱいになる。

It rained a lot,

so their favourite stream is very full.

この冬は雨が多いので

犬達のお気に入りの小川も氾濫しそうだ。

Still Going Strong

After the latest vet visit for a routine check,

the amount of Shiro's medication has increased.

The vet also suggested Shiro may have bronchitis.

獣医との定期検診の際、

シローの飲み薬を増やすことになった。

また、咳の原因は喘息かもしれないとも言われた。

So we bought an air purifier for him.

そこで、空気洗浄機を購入した。

He has to go for wee a lot

because of the new medication's side effect.

But he's still happy and enjoys his walk.

I made an amigurumi mouse.

あみぐるみのネズミを作成。

I also knitted a hat with a pompom with 

Studio Donegal Tweed yarn.

For some reason, everybody is wearing a hat with a pompom

this year in Ireland.

また、ドネゴールツイードの毛糸で

ポンポン付きの帽子を編んだ。

何故か今年はみんなポンポン付きの帽子がトレンドのようで

みんな被っているので私も被りたくなったのだ。

I also baked a cake.

It was very nice.

それからケーキも焼いてみた。

結構美味しかった。

Killiney Hill & Christmas Tree

On the weekend we took the doggies to Killiney Hill.

It was very windy but I enjoyed it.

週末に犬たちと Killiney Hill を散歩した。

強風で寒かったが楽しかった。

Also we put up a Christmas Tree.

It's earlier than usual this year.

また、クリスマスツリーの飾り付けをした。

例年より少し早めである。

I can't believe it's already Christmas.

Dillon’s Park, Dalkey

It hasn't been very cold but 

the weather has been very very wet,

and we couldn't do a lot of nice things outdoors.

However, we had (relatively) nice weather today,

even though it was freezing cold.

So we went out to Dillon’s Park in Dalkey.

寒くはなかったのだが、

２〜３週間ほど毎日毎日雨で、

犬散歩も全然楽しいものではなかった。

しかしながら今日の土曜日に

寒かったがいいお天気だったので

Dalkey の Dillon’s Park に出かけてみた。

There is a Holy Well.

What kind of holiness is a mystery.

聖なる井戸があった。

どういう意味で「聖なる」なのかは謎。

 Shiro refused to come near the well

as he got suspicious that we may put him in the well 😅

シローは井戸の近くに来ることを拒否。

どうやら私たちがシローを井戸に入れるのではないかと

疑った模様 😅

Dalkey Island.

There were people canoeing in this cold weather.

この寒い中カヌーをしている人たちもいた。

Sooty the Japanese Spitz

We went for a walk in Sandycove 

and encountered a cute little Japanese spitz

called "Sooty" 

(ironical name for a white dog 😀).

いいお天気なので Sandycove の海岸に

犬達と散歩に出かけたら、

可愛い4歳の女の子のスピッツ

「スーティちゃん」に遭遇！

（「スーティ」とは英語で煤だらけという意味で、

真っ白なスピッツには正反対の名前だ😀）

I crocheted a reindeer.

トナカイのあみぐるみも作った。

Cabinteely Park & Raspberry Jam

Myself & the doggies visited Cabinteely Park.

I learned that the Cabinteely House was built in 1769,

250 years ago.

犬たちと Cabinteely 公園に出かけた。

この日、公園の説明を読んで

公園内のお屋敷は 250 年前に建てられたことを知った。

I also noticed there are ginkgo trees.

イチョウの木があった。

I wasn't very busy with work last week,

so I crocheted an amigurumi elephant.

先週はあまり忙しくなかったので

かぎ針編みで象のあみぐるみを作った。

I also made raspberry jam using

our home grown raspberries.

また、家の庭で採れたラズベリーで

ジャムを作った。
